The Trackhawk makes over 1,000 ponies and takes less than three seconds to hit 60 mph!

Hennessey Performance is known to heavily tune the vehicles it takes under its wings. This isn’t a marginal increase as many products to date have been tuned to make around 1,000 horses. As if this wasn’t enough to hype the products, the tuner often hosts drag races with other supercars and SUVs to give us a glimpse and perspective of how fast and agile these vehicles get after a Hennessey tune-up. The latest video shows a tuned Grand Cherokee Trackhawk go up against a near-stock Chevy C8 Corvette. It’s a given which vehicle won, but it’s a fun video nevertheless.

Not As One-Sided As You’d Expect

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk featured here comes with a Hennessey HPE1000 package that bumps up the power figures from 707 horses and 645 pound-feet of torque to 1,012 horses and 969 pound-feet of torque. The 6.2-liter, V-8 mill is equipped with a 2.65-liter supercharger that helps the big SUV achieve a 0-60 mph time of 2.6 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 10.2 seconds with a top speed of 133 mph.

The C8 Corvette, on the other hand, comes with a 6.2-liter, V-8 LT2 engine that makes 495 horses and 470 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The C8 features a stainless steel exhaust system that increases the output by 21 horses and 19 pound-feet of torque at the wheels and is 10 pounds lighter.

Final Thoughts

The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk HPE1000 comes with a lot of equipment under the hood as well. Although some folks may think that this was a rather close race for vehicles that have over 500 horses of difference between them, you need to take into consideration that an SUV is taking on a mid-engined, two-door supercar. If they were tuned to churn out the same power output figures, obviously, the C8 would win.
