Land Rover recently began teasing the new Range Rover in order to build public interest, but it seems a couple of Instagram users couldn't contain their excitement for the British automaker's upcoming flagship luxury SUV.
Land Rover recently released two teaser photos of the upcoming 2022 Range Rover, showcasing its new grille and an obscured view of its side profile. Additionally, a teaser video was also posted on Land Rover's official Instagram account, giving us a short, faint view of the upcoming luxury SUV's grille.
Unfortunately, all of Land Rover's plans to keep the Range Rover in secrecy have been foiled, thanks to these leaked photos that recently surfaced on Instagram.
More of the Same, But Different
Cochespias was able to snap up a couple of PR photos -- presumably from a magazine -- of the new 2022 Land Rover Range Rover. Meanwhile, jons_garage18 and drivenhardofficial have photos of the new luxury SUV in the flesh. Based on these photos, the new Range Rover does not look entirely different from its predecessor.
Land Rover spent a lot of time streamlining the new Range Rover's design. The new grille now sits more flushed with the rest of the front fascia, while the lower front air intake now has a cleaner horizontal shape. The LED headlights have been slightly tweaked while still retaining their signature design. Though the side profile may look similar to its predecessor, the designers were able to tweak its side door gills while also adopting the Evoque and Velar's flushed pop-out door handles.
The rear end of the new Land Rover Range Rover receives the most changes. Gone are the square-shaped elements of the LED taillights. In its place are a pair of slimmer vertical clusters that appear as gloss black panels when not illuminated. These taillights are connected by a gloss black tailgate garnish where the Range Rover lettering is placed.
Evolutionary Interior Redesign, Revolutionary New Cabin Tech
Moving towards the interior, we can see that the new Range Rover adopts Jaguar Land Rover's new Pivi Pro curved-glass infotainment system. There's also a new four-spoke steering wheel that's similar to the E65/E66 BMW 7 Series, and a new electronic gear selector design. The climate controls seem to possess traditional buttons and knobs, though the grainy PR photos are hard to fully confirm if this is indeed the case.
Also shown in the official PR photo is the presence of third-row seating. This is the first time that the full-size Land Rover Range Rover will come with a seven-seater layout. It was only the midsize Range Rover Sport that benefitted from third-row seating.
Conclusion
Land Rover has traditionally hit a home run in terms of the Range Rover's evolutionary redesigns, and this new model seeks to continue that trend. It should also be more spacious compared to the outgoing model, given the presence of those third-row seats. Expect more powertrain and technical details to be revealed during the Range Rover's official launch on October 26.
