The Subaru Impreza WRX STI 22B is one of the most iconic and desirable models of the STI lineage, and this has inspired rendering artist, Rain Prisk, to formulate a virtual render of what a modern-day interpretation of it could look like.

Rain Prisk is no stranger to virtual renderings of what vehicles could look like. Some of his works include an imaginary Rolls-Royce supercar and a modern take on the Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86. This time around, he took inspiration from the WRX STI 22B and this is the result.

The rendering is amusingly called the WRX STI "2022B", and it blends the design elements of the current 2022 WRX and the 22B from the late '90s. The result is a two-door sporty coupe with less of the modern-day WRX's body cladding and more of the Impreza WRX STI 22B's clean-sheet design.

Some of the other enhancements Rain Prisk made to the WRX STI 2022B are the enhanced front splitter, long side skirts, a tall rear wing, and gold wheels that draw inspiration from the original 22B. Its ride height has been lowered, too.

When the current 2022 Subaru WRX came out, it draw a lot of controversy from its styling, especially due to the comical amount of body cladding that makes it look like a crossover SUV. In spite of that, its 2.4-liter turbo flat-four boxer engine that produces 271 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, along with its all-new Subaru Global Platform and enhanced driving dynamics, has earned praise from critics.
