It’s been 24 hours since we saw the brand-new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series in a handful of leaked photos, and the German company has now released the first official video with the performance coupe. Mercedes-Benz did not release any information on the car yet, but the video gives us a good look at the Black Series’ exterior and confirms that yesterday’s leak was legit.
Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series - First Official Video
The video shows a man sneaking inside a garage, taking a few photos of the Black Series, and then taking it for ride. He’s followed by a couple of police cars, so he abandons it to get away. He then texts someone that "the car is from another universe" and a reply comes back with "Nope. Made in Affalterbach." The driver is none other than YouTuber Shmee150, who probably already placed an order for the sports car. In one of the messages he sends in the video he also says that he "got the photos," which could mean that yesterday’s leak may have been staged by Mercedes itself.
The video ends with the AMG GT Black Series being driven in anger on a race track. The footage and the announcement don’t include a release date, but it’s safe to assume that the coupe will break cover by the end of July. Expect the race-inspired Black Series model to hit the street with more than 700 horsepower on tap.
