Not too long ago Topspeed reported about Honda’s in house tuner Mugen and their plan to take the Civic Type R hot hatch and pump up the adrenaline a few notches. Well today the Japanese automaker has confirmed that their R spec hatchback will indeed go on sale in the European market, and Mugen won’t be far behind with their own tuner ride complete with aggressively restyled bumpers, vented hood and fenders and an oversized rear wing that would make even the boldest of Evo owners jealous.

To go along with the boy racer body pieces, Mugen is also offering a set of lightweight 18 inch alloy wheels available in either gunmetal or bronze. Mugen has also dedicated quite a bit of time and energy into making the race ready Civic light on its feet and able to change directions at a moments notice, so they have fitted a sport suspension package as well as an upgraded brake kit. However the best parts of the car are those which you wish you never have to see, like a copper fiber clutch set that is made to take the added abuse that comes along with making quick shifts thanks to the Mugen short throw shifter, but the Pièce de résistance is a limited slip differential that is sure to cure any of the woes associated with a front wheel drive performance vehicle.

Well, I don’t think that this is the traditional styling of the Civic for there’s an obvious modified styling and speed performance for this car and its quite impressive especially with those adds-on.

I’m not really a fan of this vehicle for its not really your typical sportscar. It doesn’t have an impressive speed performance and the styling of its interior look so cheap.

I would love to see this car evolve into something spectacular. How about a racing type car? That sounds cool..and don’t forget to upgrade the interior as well!

Whoa! Hey guys! Honda Civic is not a racing car what are you talking about the “racer body pieces”? I really don’t like the look of its original concept for the interior seems so cheap though the exterior is great! I’m afraid that the same thing goes around here.

I think happen usually wherein automaker forgot to make an affordable and fun to drive car. Honestly, I don’t understand why people buy this car.

Mugen and 19-inch wheels? What’s next, Spoon and neon windshield wiper nozzles? Seems they’ve forgotten their roots.

It’s rear wing is just like the Mitsubishi Evolution 6-9 rear wing.

I think a little set-up on the body kits will boost this car

@Peter_Sepreani - I guess your wrong Peter.. EVO is superior in handling also it can accelerate faster than the this. yes it’s well tuned car but if will find difficulty in beating the EVO because of the drivetrain AWD is a lot of difference on FWD. in addition EVO is well known for it’s Superb handling.

@memphisroyce: maybe this car is already upgraded, and already customized, that’s why it’s much faster than the Lancer EVO.

this civic is much far away from Lancer evo when you compare them. But this Civic already have a powerful engine and the lancer Evo is still on process to upgrade the engine faster than the new Civic.

yes civic has a bolder rear wing better than the evo, "but" it can never out perform the evo. evo is the king of handling and acceleration.

I think a little set-up on the body kits and some parts, can make this one a work of art.

Of course the European Market would get this awesome Mugen tuned Civic Type-R!
