Honda is all set to bring back the familiar 'Passport" nameplate after going into exile 16 years ago. The Japanese automaker will be using the moniker on its latest SUV that will be unveiled on November 27 at the upcoming L.A. Auto Show. The Passport will be Honda's sixth offering in the SUVs and light trucks segment after the HR-V, CR-V, Pilot, Ridgeline, and Odyssey minivan.

Time For Passport Renewal

The new Passport will share its underpinnings and the 3.5-liter, V-6 mill with the Pilot. It will be positioned between the CR-V and the Pilot, and is expected to be more rugged and adventurous than the other SUVs in the lineup.

What They Had To Say

Henio Arcangeli Jr. Senior Vice President of American Honda Motor, said, “The new Passport is a more personal, powerful and off-road-capable SUV that hits the sweet spot between daily driving comfort and weekend off-road, all-weather adventure capability. With customer demand for SUVs continuing to grow, the new adventure-ready Passport is going to further solidify our lineup, attracting new buyers and keeping existing customers in the Honda family.”

The new Passport is being launched to rake in more numbers for the company. Although no details have been revealed yet, we can deduce that the new Passport will be a value-for-money proposition and Honda expects to sell this model in large numbers. Honda is on the verge to top 700,000 vehicles for the third year in a row in the U.S.
