It’s been well established that Honda has one of the most advanced and competitive motor racing divisions in the auto industry. The company’s expertise in the field is prominently displayed in a variety of top-class racing series, two of which include MotoGP and the British Touring Car Championship. That passion has even spread into its road-car lineup, mostly evident on the Honda Civic Type-R. So if you have all these high-powered machines at your disposal and you have an empty track to play with, there’s the temptation to do something like this.

The video shows Honda’s motor racing prowess at its fullest. In it we see four Honda Civic Type Rs, a Civic Type R BTCC Touring Car, and a Honda RC213V MotoGP bike. What’s interesting about this particular lap is the incredibly fast the Civic Typer R Touring Car and the RC213V MotoGP bike are compared to the standard Civic Type Rs. Granted, the race-spec characteristics of these two machines has a lot to do with that, but it’s still pretty jarring to see the two race vehicles obliterate the Civic TypeRs despite giving all four cars significant head starts.

Remember, the Civic Type R is a beast in its own right. It’s capable of hitting a top speed of 167 mph, thanks in large part to a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. And yet, watching this video shows how fast the racers are. They make the Civic Type Rs look like they’re running on quicksand!

It might not be the best way to showcase the capabilities of one of the world’s fastest hot hatches, but it also puts the spotlight on the two racers and how incredible they are in an open track.
