Honda to Unveil All-New Sedan and EV at the Beijing Auto Show
Likely to preview China-only production modelsby Ciprian Florea, on
Japanese automaker Honda has been rather busy lately when it comes to new vehicles. But alongside new versions of the Civic, Accord, Clarity, and Insight, the carmaker also unveiled a couple of intriguing, all-electric concepts recently: the Urban EV and the Sports EV. And it seems that the Japanese aren’t stopping here, with two new concept vehicles set to break cover at the Beijing Auto Show in China later this month. And both are developed with the company’s local partners in China.
This new EV is still a mystery as far as design and drivetrain go, but unlike the Urban EV and Sports EV, it will preview a production model
First on the list is yet another electric car. Created in cooperation with GAC, this new EV is still a mystery as far as design and drivetrain go, but unlike the Urban EV and Sports EV, it will preview a production model. Unfortunately, it seems that the production car, which will arrive in showrooms before the end of 2018, will be exclusive to the Chinese market. It’s safe to assume that it will be a compact, most likely a sedan or a hatchback.
The second concept car is developed in partnership with Dongfeng, and it's a four-door sedan
The second concept car is developed in partnership with Dongfeng, and it’s a four-door sedan. There’s absolutely no info on this model, but word has it we’ll be seeing a brand new vehicle. Is Honda looking to tackle a new niche with a sedan slotted between the Civic and the Accord? It could be, but there’s a big chance that it won’t be sold outside China either.
The new concept cars will be joined by an array of existing Honda and Acura models, including the Accord Hybrid, which will make its Chinese debut, and the Acura RDX prototype. The premium division will also unveil a hybrid version of the CDX, a small crossover based on the Honda HR-V.
Stay tuned for details as we’ll be back with info on the two concept cars as soon as we get it!
