Lamborghinis are very fast, and that’s no secret. Pretty quick off the line, too. Even the big-boned Urus can hold its own in a 0-62 mph sprint, which it can dispatch in 3.6 seconds. But this video isn’t about the Lamborghini Urus. It’s about one of Lambo’s pure-breed, low-slung supercars and its ability to stretch its legs in the half mile.
The Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster came out four years ago with bold claims: 50 kilos (110 pounds) lighter than the regular Roadster, heavily infused with CFRP (carbon-fiber reinforced polymer) and bonkers aero upgrades. But how well can it perform in a half-mile sprint?

First, some context. The SV Roadster uses the same beastly, naturally-aspirated V-12 as a regular Aventador, but it churns out 740 horsepower at 8,400 rpm and 507 pound-feet (690 Newton-meters) of torque at 5,500 rpm. Power reaches all four wheels through a seven-speed automatic that’s been deemed as sluggish and clunky by some, but that’s not the point here.
The transmission does just enough to propel the SV Roadster from naught to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.9 seconds, from naught to 124 mph (200 km/h) in 8.8 seconds, and on to a Vmax of over 217 mph (350 km/h). Stopping power is equally impressive, too, as the open-top Aventador SV needs just 101.7 feet (31 meters) to stop from 62 mph (100 km/h).

That said, let’s come back to the half-mile challenge this Lambo had to rise up to. Thanks to its all-wheel-driver setup, the SV Roadster could easily transfer all that bite to the ground, basically shooting off the line and just pulling and pulling and pulling until it reached 159 mph (159.284 mph, to be more precise, or 256.3 km/h) before the driver stepped on the brake.
Given that the SV Roadster is capable of over 217 mph, almost hitting the 160-mph mark in the half mile can considered as pretty impressive. Then again, this is Lamborghini we’re talking, so we shouldn’t be too surprised in the first place.
