The long-awaited documentary chronicling the life of the late Paul Walker is set to premiere on August 9. The documentary, titled “I Am Paul Walker,” chronicles the life of the late movie star who died in a car crash in November 2013. Fans of Walker have waited a long time to see this documentary, which will feature never-before-seen footage of his daily life, as well as interviews with his family and friends, including his parents and co-stars in the “Fast and Furious” franchise.

It’s been four years since Paul Walker’s tragic death, and for some of us, the pain is still real. We know that he’s not going to back, but this documentary could be the closure we need to finally move on from the tragedy. It’s not going to be the easy, sure, but once we get a good look at his life without the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, we’ll come to understand the man behind the name. I Am Paul Walker should provide that revealing content. Not only will it touch on Walker’s personal life, but it will also dive deep into his career and all his philanthropic efforts, a lot of which were never mentioned until after his death. If anything, this documentary will reveal all of it.

"We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Paramount Network on the I Am series," said Executive Producer Paul Gertz, Network Entertainment's President, and C.O.O., when the documentary was announced earlier this year. "We are proud to lead off our recently announced new four-picture slate with Paramount Network with this engaging documentary about the life and legacy of the very talented Paul Walker.”

Talking about Walker’s life and legacy is still bittersweet, in large part because he should still be alive had it not been for the car crash that claimed his life in 2013. For those who need a refresher — there’s probably only a few of you — Walker was riding shotgun on a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that his friend, Roger Rodas, was driving. At some point during his drive, Rodas lost control of the Carrera GT, sending it crashing into a pole where it burst into flames. Both Rodas and Walker died as a result of the crash. It was devastating news for fans of the actor, specifically the hardcore Fast and Furious fans who watched Walker become one of the two cornerstones of the franchise together with his friend, Vin Diesel. It still hurts to see his face or hear his name mentioned, but hopefully, this documentary will act as closure for a lot of his most loyal fans.

I Am Paul Walker will premiere on August 9. It’s directed by Adrian Buitehuis, who has also produced films on John F. Kennedy Jr., Muhammad Ali, Chris Farley, and Heath Ledger.
