When I was just a wee lad, I always found mid- to late-August to be a somewhat bittersweet time of the year. The summer is starting to wind down, the weather is starting to get a little colder, and you can’t turn around without seeing those gawd-awful “back to school” advertisements popping up everywhere. But now that I’m older and unburdened by the joy of three straight months of work-free bliss, I’m actually quite looking forward to it. The main source of my optimism – Monterey Car Week.

In case you were unaware, MCW is an annual extravaganza of metal and money, a swirling hurricane of gas-fueled, exhaust-barking, top-shelf auto enthusiasm. Held up and down the central coast of California, this is the place to be if you like it fast, beautiful, and outrageously expensive. A vast cornucopia of auto auctions, historic racing, cruises, and more fills the schedule beyond capacity, all culminating in the world-renowned Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. If you’re anywhere close to the action, it’s your duty to attend.

And attend I will. TopSpeed is once again sending me to Monterey to cover this thing, and I can’t wait to jump in headfirst. But I gotta know – what do you wanna see, dear reader? Maybe high-dollar racers going fender-to-fender at Laguna Seca? Maybe million-dollar unicorns rolling off the auction block? Maybe four-wheeled heroes trying to parallel park? Tell us in the comments, and we’ll do our best to provide.
