If It Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It: 2023 KIA Telluride Teased Just Days Ahead Of New York Auto Show Debut

KIA's upcoming flagship appears to be a nip and tuck affair on the outside, but the inside has some big tech upgrades coming your way

KIA will bring a refreshed Telluride to the New York Auto show next week. The Korean automaker has released two teaser images of its upcoming three-row flagship SUV. It's not just the Telluride, but sister brand Hyundai too that will bring an update to its Palisade,, and images of that SUV were also teased online.

The 2022 New York Auto Show is upon us, and it resumes its customary spring schedule. The show is set to open its doors in a matter of days and one of the many exhibits will be the refreshed Kia Telluride. The Telluride is, of course, the biggest and the baddest KIA that the Korean automaker sells in North America, and although it hasn’t been on sale for that long, it's already time for an update.

The 2023 Kia Telluride

We’ve already caught prototypes of the Telluride during winter testing so a new model was imminent. The teaser image shows a redesigned radiator grille with sharper lines and a modified bumper with upright fog lights. Overall that front end has a more polished appearance and off-road character. This monotone image doesn’t really give off much aside from the basic form that seems to be intact.

The big changes, though, appear to be on the inside where KIA is going all-in with a massive screen that integrates the driver's instrument displays and infotainment system all with satin chrome finishes thrown in for good measure. Similar to the new Sportage, which has been redesigned to include a new large screen that takes up much of the dash, you can expect a big upgrade in terms of tech and safety across the Telluride range.

As for the mechanicals, expect much of the same in that the same 3.8-liter V-6 gas engine with 291 horsepower, will now be updated for the Telluride. It will be mated to an eight-speed auto and can be configured with a front or all-wheel driver.

Conclusion

The current Telluride, in my opinion, already looks pretty darn good and already sells in big numbers. So it's no surprise that this will be a nip and tuck affair as automakers have to do their thing and refresh the product lineup to keep things relevant and that is especially true for this lumbering SUV which will now see some big upgrades in terms of tech. KIA will take the covers off the new Telluride on April 13th. Watch this space.
