What you’re looking at, folks, is the world's biggest Humvee. Based on the old civilian version of the M998 H1, which was never a small vehicle, to begin with, this one, dubbed the H1X3, built for the famed Rainbow Sheikh in the United Arab Emirates, takes it to a whole new level; and I mean that literally.

Who Is The Rainbow Sheikh

His Highness Sheikh Hamad Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi, popularly known as the Rainbow Sheikh has an extravagant taste in cars. The Billionaire Emirati is aptly known as the Rainbow Sheikh because he bought seven Mercedes SELs, one for each day of the week, painted in seven different colors, back in 1983.

Jezza did a feature piece on him back in the 90s on Jeremy Clarkson’s Motorworld, while he was on his middle-eastern escapade. Now, the Hummer isn’t the Rainbow Sheikh’s first oversized vehicle, that honor would go to the 1950s Dodge Power Wagon which holds a very special place in the Sheikh’s heart as it was a vehicle that played a pivotal role in the oil exploration in the early days.

Now, although the Hummer is yet to enter the Guinness Book of Records, the Rainbow Sheikh already holds a few titles, including the largest collection of 4x4s in one place. Like his oversized Willy’s CJ or the globe on wheels. He’s got one of the largest collections of trucks and cars in the world. Over 718 of them.

Meet the Hummer H1 X3

Let’s cut to the chase, the Humvee already pack a lot of street-cred, thanks to its size and if you really want yours to stand out even, you’d probably get a custom paint job or add a lift kit, but this one right here, well, it takes that narrative to the next level. To give you some perspective, the small Hummer H1 that you see in the foreground is the real thing. And the H1 X3 behind it makes it appear like a toy.

The enormous two-storey Hummer has a height of 21.6 feet, a length of 46 feet, and a width of 19 feet. This makes it three times the size of the factory H1 and significantly larger than the largest Hummer EV, which is just 6.5 feet tall, 18 feet long, and 7.25 feet wide.

Does It Move?

Coming back to the Hummer H1 X3, this is not just a giant monument. The thing is equipped with four diesel engines which provide enough grunt to roll under its own steam. The Instagram post above, put out by the Sheikh shows off a portion of his collection as well as a video of the Hummer's journey to the museum, where it now sits on display.

Just like the interior of the Dodge truck that was transformed into a luxury four-bedroom motorhome on wheels, we can be sure that the same destiny awaits this massive Hummer as well. For now, it has an unfinished multi-level cabin that includes a kitchen and bathroom.

Conclusion

If you’re visiting Dubai anytime soon, this oversized Humvee is exhibited now at the Off-Road History Museum in Al Madam, alongside several other Willys and old-school jeeps and vans, that once traversed the Deserts of the Arabian Gulf.
