Lamborghini's first contact with electrification goes back to 2014, when the Italian firm unveiled the Asterion, a hybrid concept car. Come 2021 and Lamborghini is offering a production hybrid supercar, the Sian FKP 37. Lamborghini has yet to develop an all-electric concept car, but it did unveil such a concept, called the Terzo Millennio, in 2017. A production EV is probably still a few years away, but if it looks like the E_X virtual concept shown here, we're definitely excited to see what Lambo's electric future holds.

Designed by Behance used Andrea Ortile, the E_X is a vision of Lamborghini's electric feature inspired by "70s Gandini's masterpieces, fighter jets, and racing prototypes." The E_X's exterior is inspired by two wedge-shaped vehicles from the 1970s, the Lamborghini Countach and the Lancia Stratos Zero. While the former is already iconic, the Stratos Zero was a wild concept that eventually inspired the production version of the Lancia Stratos. Since the Stratos Zero was very similar to the Countach, the E_X retains many of the traditional Lambo styling cues that have lived on through iconic models like the Diablo, Murcielago, and Aventador.

Its exterior also feels inspired by the Sesto Elemento, the limited-production, Gallardo-based supercar that Lambo introduced in 2010. But unlike production Lambos, the E_X doesn't have doors. Access to the cockpit is made through a sliding roof. The interior is also different than the regular Lambo, featuring a single-seat design similar to Formula One cars. Yes, the E_X is far from practical, but it's an interesting take for an all-electric track car for the future.

Ortile also imagined the car's electric drivetrain with a motor on the front axle, one on the rear axle, and a big battery pack between them, mounted in the floor. It's also fitted with carbon-ceramic brakes, rear cameras, and a carbon-fiber frame that embraces the body where the front hood and the sliding roof make contact. The charging socket is hidden in the lower front fender, hidden behind a sliding cover.

The E_X doesn't stray too far off the traditional Lamborghini design, yet it's futuristic enough to stand on its own. It looks like a second-generation Sesto Elemento that would be quite successful if put into production as a two-seater. Lambo should hire this guy to design its first all-electric supercar!
