Top Gear’s 26th season is coming up soon, and ahead of the show’s launch, which could happen sometime in late February or early March, the BBC has released a new trailer of what we can expect from Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris, and Rory Reid in their last full season as the show’s main hosts. The first trailer is what you’d expect from a Top Gear trailer. There’s plenty of intriguing action involving all three hosts, including what looks to be a fun polo match with tuk-tuks serving as substitutes for horses. The trailer also shows the three hosts in a number of competitive environments, and, of course, there are the cars, of which there are many delightful ones in the trailer, including the Bentley Continental GT, Ferrari GTC4 Lusso, and Porsche Panamera.

If there’s one thing you can always count on Top Gear, it’s that the show doesn’t seem to run out of ideas. The first trailer of Season 26 gives us a peek of what we can expect from the show in the coming months, and I gotta say, there looks to be a lot of fresh material in store for us when the first episode drops, well, we actually still don’t know when it’s dropping. On that note, the exact date of the show’s premiere hasn’t been announced yet, but we did identify late February and early March as two possible dates for the season’s first episode. We’re going by last year’s schedule, though, so take our speculation with a grain of salt, at least until the BBC makes it official. We also saw Bentley’s new LMP1 racer and what looks like the Porsche GT2 RS going sideways violently. If you want action, the 26th season of Top Gear is going to deliver.

Unfortunately, there’s also a tinge of bittersweet emotions attached to the 26th season of the show, especially to those who have grown fond of the trio of LeBlanc, Harris, and Reid. It’s the last full season that all three are the main hosts. LeBlanc is scheduled to leave after this season, largely because of scheduling and commuting concerns between the U.S. and the U.K. For his part, Reid will “remain a part of the Top Gear family,” but he’s essentially being demoted back to Top Gear, the short online series that airs right at the end of each Top Gear episode. Given his exit from the main show, it’s unclear how long Reid will last on Top Gear

Harris, on the other hand, will soldier on as the show’s main host for Seasons 27 and beyond. He’ll take the reigns from LeBlanc as the show’s main host, where he will be joined by British comic Paddy McGuinness and retired cricket player Andrew Flintoff. Neither of the two are established household names, especially here in the U.S., but they supposedly have strong motoring backgrounds and are long-time fans of the show. We’ll take that for what it’s worth and wait and see what they can bring to the table on Top Gear But that’s for next season.

I didn’t think that Top Gear would be the same with the departures of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, but the tip of LeBlanc, Harris, and Reid have successfully put their own spin on the show that has made all of us forget about the disastrous Chris Evans season. It’s a shame that this era is short-lived, but, at the very least, we can see the three hosts for one more season before the show embarks on yet another chapter of its life. As a fan of the show, I hope McGuinness and Flintoff are as good as the BBC makes them out to be.

Otherwise, we could be in for another dark few years on Top Gear. If that happens, let’s at least enjoy Season 26 for what it’s about to bring to the table. From the looks of the first trailer, it’s going to be a fun season ahead for fans of the show.
