Infiniti’s future models will be inspired by the Emerg-E

The hype surrounding the Infiniti Emerg-E turned out to be false hope, but Infiniti may still have plans for the concept. The coulda, shoulda, woulda halo car recently died out at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed after reports leaked out that its performance may not be as impressive as Infiniti had originally reported. We’re sure having to be towed away definitely wasn’t in the plans. All of that being said, in a recent interview with Inside Line, Shiro Nakamura - Nissan and Infiniti design chief - said that the company is still hoping that the Emerg-E will become the new flagship model for the Nissan luxury brand.

According to Nakamura, the Emerg-E could still be built in limited edition in Britain and Lotus could potentially be behind the build considering the Emerg-E is loosely based off the experimental Lotus Evora 414E hybrid.

Other possibilities for a new flagship Infiniti model are an SUV or a sedan. Either way, he suggested that the 2014 G sedan and a new small hatchback will feature design elements from the Emerg-E. The new G sedan is expected to be unveiled in 2013, while the hatchback, previewed by the Etherea concept, will be unveiled in 2014.

"Today’s G looks a bit fat, but the new G has really nice proportions, and it’s much sportier," Nakamura said. "The compact hatchback is very expressive, but not like the FX. I’m very content with them."

Any hopes for a great hybrid super car from Infiniti may be dead in the water, but we’re still banking on the back that the company has the Essence Concept in its back pocket. Whether they’ll do anything with this 592 hp petrol-electric hybrid ace in the hole is a whole other argument.

Okay, its appearance is highly acceptable. However, its performance isn’t.

I’m speechless, for the moment; I saw this car. It thought it was only in my imagination, but now I know it is possible. I’m interested to see this kind of car.

I’m so excited to upcoming 2013 Infiniti is more fabulous than other Infiniti cars.

We knew that Emerg-E failed to give the numbers they had revealed before. So if they are going to base this upcoming Infiniti on Emerg-E, what will happen on it?

They can’t just let it all have the concept of Emerg-E. I think they have to upgrade and enhance it more than the failed concept.

Wow, just by looking at its exterior design, I can tell that this car will make slack to the competition. This car will surely gain popularity.

Infiniti model is just as good as the EMERG-E concept. Only the EMERG-E became a failure.

What are the specifications of the upcoming Infiniti?

Are the future models of Infiniti will have the same exterior like on the picture?

If they inspire the upcoming Infiniti with the exterior details, it might have the success. Just make sure that its engine components fit to be a super car.

The matte finishes fits perfectly on this Infiniti concept. It’s far greater than the EMERG-E, and has stronger appearance.

Would they give another halo car in replacement of the ceased concept?

This is the great car I have ever seen. I am so impressed in this car because of its exterior design.

If the new Infinti models are on matte black, it’ll look more gorgeous than the EMERG-E, and I’m still hoping for its continuation.

I hope that will not do the same thing about the Infiniti EMERG-E. If they are going to use the platform and its current exterior, maybe they can make it a good model, but not as great as they promised on the earlier concept.

Maybe this one is not a false hope like what happened on Emerg-E. I have a good vision about this. Since the design of Infiniti is excellent, they just have to focus more on its performance.
