GM announced today that its product portfolio in the U.S. and it will resemble more closely those in Europe and Asia--with much more fuel-efficient vehicles.

First, the Saturn Aura will be replaced with the Opel Insignia. Then there will be a production version of the Invicta Concept, but the car may not carry that name in production.

The future Chevrolet Cruze,->ke3230 that will debut at the Paris Auto Show, is expected to have a fuel economy of 40+ mpg. The next-generation Chevrolet Equinox and Cadillac SRX (based on the Cadillac Provoq concept) will arrive by 2010.

GMC will get a crossover, substantially smaller than the Acadia, equipped with four-cylinder engines. GMC is expected to get a version of the new Chevrolet Equinox; it's "so different" you would never guess they were similar under the skin. The GMC version will most likely be called Terrain.
