Back in July 2021, it was rumored that Mercedes will be adding a new sub-brand into its division. Up until now, it only had AMG and Maybach divisions, but rumors suggest there could also be a G-Class division responsible for attacking the off-road market. Of course, these rumors left a lot for interpretation, including the possibility of having an electric G-Class in the future. It was even previewed by the EQG Concept.

Well, we do not know when an electric G-Class will arrive, but it looks like a baby G-Class is finally on its way. Is Mercedes taking inspiration from Lamborghini and coming up with off-road versions of its low-slung cars?

One could argue that Mercedes already has the GLA and the GLB and many consider them as baby G-Class models, but we are talking about a real baby G-Class - you know, as big as the Suzuki Jimny, but a lot more luxurious.

Of course, this is just a mule and it is very difficult to guess what this could possibly be, especially since Mercedes is using such an old version of the C-Class as a base for it. And, before you ask, no, this is not the future Smart sedan. The Smart division makes only electric models, whereas this one has an engine. Our spy photographers can testify they heard it!

So, all we can do right now is speculate and hope we are indeed looking at a very cool car, but we are very sure that if Mercedes will bring a baby G-Class - with the same look as the usual G-Class - it will sell tons of it in no time! For all we know, this might be a random one-off version injected with steroids to test a component or part under the skin. What do you think it could be? Let us know in the comments section.
