267 mph.

Ever since the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport hit the road, the title of fastest car in the world went with it. But now it appears that a certain Swedish supercar may have finally eclipsed that mark.

With six production records under its belt, including the 0-186-0 mph time of 21.9 seconds, the Koenigsegg Agera R is already considered the biggest threat to the Veyron Super Sport’s title and now that Koenigsegg has officially released the new Agera R, word is leaking that the car is capable of hitting 273 mph, six mph faster than the mighty Bugatti.

The number has yet to be verified, but if the Agera R is capable of breaking the 270-barrier, then we’re going to have a pretty interesting battle for fastest car supremacy on our hands.

The world is waiting for your figures, Koenigsegg. Let it be known that the 2013 Agera R can hit a top speed of 273 mph and you can claim the title of fastest car in the world. And in doing so, you better expect a reply from Bugatti very, very soon.

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read full bio

The possibility is very slim because Volkswagon doesn’t what to let koenigsegg use their Ehra-Lessien track because they know that the Agera R is faster than the Buggati Veyron. Why do you think they don’t let Koenigsegg go, because they don’t what to lose their 267 mph title to the Agera R’s claimed 273 mph. And the only way you can truly find out the Agera R’s speed is on the Ehra-Lessien track because nowhere in the world is there a track to test its speed.

Even if they say that this car is the fastest, I’m still in Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. When I saw it’s speed, I was actually shocked.

There are lots of rumors roaming around back when Lamborghini Aventador have released. The race against Bugatti took place and Bugatti remains the on the top. So the only thing that we can do to determine what really the fastest car is to make a race.

So what about the 267 NPH? Of course the fastest in the world. So Bugatti what’s next after the Grand Vitesse?

Agera R unbelievably hit a top speed of 273 MPH and claims the title of being the fastest car in the world.

I am not surprised honestly. Agera has something to show on Bugatti, and this Agera R is in fact faster on him by 6 MPH.

it’s not as promising as Bugatti, but if they pursue the numbers they are targeting, they might have the title “fastest”.

Race! Race! Race! That’s the only thing that they could do to determine what really is the fastest car in the world. Better to start doin’ that baby!

As per description, yes it is. But why don’t let Koenigsegg Agera R and Bugatti Veyron race to finally know who really is the fastest?!

  (570) posted on 04.16.2012

It probably is for now, but seeing how fast the companies are on producing speedy and powerful cars, maybe it won’t last long on its throne!

It’s good enough to be the fastest. However, the future productions of other brands may surprise us.

I won’t be surprised if this comes true; Koenigsegg’s estimations are always accurate when conducted to perform.

You know, we can’t actually tell unless every super car is involved in a single race. It’s not just about the figures given. It has to be actually proved.

I like your topic here discussing the fastest car. Did SSC Aero ever break the record? This Agera R is a promising car, which is the soon to be the killer of the Veyron.

  (579) posted on 03.20.2012

@Naraid, what’s this SSC car’s specifications? Don’t get pressed, LOL, people are still speculating about Agera R.

Well the "oh-so-special" SSC Ultimate Aero still holds the REAL record of the fastest car in the world so basically Koenigsegg should be aware when SSC makes a comeback. Although I believe Saleen should continue on there S7 and make that car the fastest car in the world, just saying.

The “fastest super car in history” nice tagging of names and I agree on that, and I like the performances it offers.

  (727) posted on 03.16.2012

I know that this car beats the Bugatti Veyron, and I believe that it will have the fastest car record in the history of super cars.

What if they put two cars to a test? If this is a threat for them, then Koenigsegg has surely made this a candidate for the fastest car in the world.
