The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has taken the world by storm. It comes with a Hellcat engine that makes over 700 horses and sprints to 60 mph in under five seconds. Stuff like the independent front suspension, advanced four-wheel-drive system, and performance shocks further make its resume stronger. It doesn’t end there.

Ram even decided to make the cabin look as premium as possible, with the use of materials like leather, suede, and even carbon fiber. But, for a truck that comes with such impressive performance specs and off-road equipment, offering a luxurious cabin seems counter-intuitive, don’t you think?

Luxurious Features That Work Only As Selling Points

The Ram 1500 TRX comes with a whole lot of features that are very impressive on paper, but you could do without them considering the truck’s purpose. Some things are well-suited only if you don’t take it off the roads and get it all dirty. When you talk about off-roaders, you need stuff that can withstand rough use.

Take the Ford Bronco, for instance. In its higher trims, the off-roader features marine-grade vinyl seats and rubberized, washable flooring.

Suede is prone to easy wear and tear and requires a lot of maintenance. To think of it, these aren’t the things you need in an off-roader. They seem good and appealing initially, but aren’t abuse-friendly and you’ll need to take utmost care of the cabin all the time. Say you go off-roading and get your clothes and shoes dirty. Would you step inside the truck with them?

The truck is offered with three different upholstery options:

-* Cloth and vinyl

-* Leather and suede

-* Leather and suede with red and carbon fiber accents

If you’re going to use the truck the way it is supposed to, cloth and vinyl seats seem the most practical option. There are a ton of carbon fiber inserts on the inside and they can take abuse, but it brings us down to the topic of the article – does this make the cabin too luxurious for off-roading?

Purists may argue that the 12-inch UConnect touchscreen infotainment system is also a luxury and basic system would suffice, but I beg to differ. The infotainment system throws up a lot of drive-related info, including the feed from the cameras. And, the bigger the screen, the better the view. Ram has even kept the knobs and dials in place, which is a good thing.

Would you enjoy the sound of the grunts and growls from the fantastic V-8 mill under the hood, or would you listen to your favorite tracks?

Stuff That The 1500 TRX Could Do Without

I’m going to list out the things that I feel are too luxurious and don’t necessarily belong to an off-roader. Some are standard things, some optional, and some are part of various packages. It will certainly draw polarizing opinions, so drop in your thoughts in the comments section below.

-* 19-speaker Harmon-Kardon Audio System

-* Steering Wheel Suede and Leather Inserts

-* Leather-Trimmed Seats

-* Luxury Front Door Trim Panel

-* Carbon-Fiber Package

Final Thoughts

All the connectivity needs are a must these days, so they’ve been skipped even though they can be considered as luxurious features. Even the highly detailed instrument cluster and panoramic sunroof are features that make off-roading a lot more fun. What else do you think needs to be on this list? Share your thoughts with us.
