The Datsun 280ZX is the second generation model in Nissan’s Z lineup of sports cars, and it’s one of the cars that has put the Japanese brand on the radar of car enthusiasts. As a matter of fact, the 280ZX was so good that it even became Motor Trend’s Import Car of the Year in 1979. The good news is that there’s one that’s currently up for auction on Bring A Trailer, and its current bid price as of this writing is at a cool $6,000.

This particular 1980 Datsun 280ZX that we see here comes in two-tone blue and silver paint, and it’s also a model that comes with the removable glass roof panels. The car is riding on aftermarket 14-inch alloy wheels with a six-spoke design. Thankfully, the factory wheels are also included in this vehicle’s list price if you still prefer having those wheels. The wheels are wrapped in 215/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, which were fitted in 2021, while the brakes were serviced by the previous owner.

With 61,000 miles on its odometer, its 2.8-liter straight-six seems to have been treated fairly well. When brand new, the engine produced 135 horsepower and 144 pound-feet of torque. Prior to this listing, the fuel pump, battery, and air filter were replaced in 2021, while the rear main seal, fuel pressure regulator, oil pan gasket, muffler, and alternator were replaced in 2019.

This 1980 Datsun 280ZX is currently bidding for $6,000 at Bring A Trailer. Since a good number of its mechanical parts have recently been replaced, this specific vehicle should be mechanically in good condition. If you can live with some of its cosmetic issues, this specific 280SX should serve as a good project car for any budding car enthusiast.
