If you are among the people who were hoping for a new Acura Integra Type-R, today is your lucky day. Acura just announced the revival of one of their most iconic names – the Integra. They did so in a press release, on August 13th, and there’s even a teaser on Acura’s Instagram page, giving us a glimpse of the sports car.

This is indeed great news, as the Acura name dates back to Acura’s debut, in 1986. We recently gave you an independent designer’s vision of what a new Integra Type-R should look like. While that one was more of an homage to the DC2 and DC5 models, what we see from the teaser looks to be more in tune with the brand’s current design language.

The Acura Integra will return as a compact premium model as soon as next year. Acura was present at the annual Monterey Car Week, in California where Acura’s Vice President Jon Ikeda made a statement. Ikeda said. “The Integra is back”.

We don’t know much for now, but we expect more details in the near future. The question everyone is asking is, what engines will be available? The Integra wouldn’t have a proper return, without a Type-R variant. It could share an engine with the Civic Type-R, or it could not. We’ll have to wait until next year to find out.
