It seems that Nürburgring is a very busy place these past few days. BMW is testing both the next generation M2 and the next M5 Hybrid, and Porsche brought the next 911 Hybrid on the ring. But, it looks like BMW has more than just the M2 and the M5 playing at Nürburgring, as today our spy photographers also caught the facelift X5 M doing some laps on the famous ring.

Just like the other prototypes caught testing before, the new X5 M prototype testing at Nürburgring is wearing little camouflage, which means, the changes on the facelift X5 M will be minimal.

It seems that most of the updates will be limited to the SUV's front end, where you should expect to see a new front bumper, a slightly modified grille, and redesigned headlights. It seems that they will keep the same shape and size as those on the current model but will be a bit sharper and feature a new LED layout.

As for the rear end, it looks like it remained untouched.

A few updates will be offered on the interior too, where BMW will add the latest iDrive 8 infotainment system we've seen in the recently updated 8 Series.

As for the powertrain, the X5 M won’t see any updates. The 2022 X5 M will continue to be offered with the same twin-turbo, 4.4-liter V-8 engine that delivers 600 horsepower in the base version and 617 horsepower in the Competition version.

Expect the facelift BMW X5 M to be launched by the end of 2022.
