In 2012, Italdesign Giugiardo->ke3778 brought the Brivido to the Geneva Auto Show, then in 2013 and 2014 it brought the 2013 Parcour and 2014 Clipper, respectively. Now here we are with another Geneva Auto Show->ke228 set to kick off on March 3, 2015, and Italdesign Giugiardo is teasing a new concept to show off at its 45th straight appearance at the show.

Unfortunately, this teaser images shows us precisely nothing, except the red “G” emblem. Typically, the company is interested in showing off its prowess as a sports car designer, but last year’s Clipper six-seat hatchback threw a monkey wrench in that whole thing. Sure, it was a hot-hatch, with a 298-horsepower drivetrain, but it looked nothing like a sports car.->ke506

Given that the Clipper was more of an exception to the rule for the Italian automaker, I think it’s safe to assume that what we are looking at is a preview of a new concept sports car.

The Geneva show is just around the corner, so we won’t have to wait months just to find out if this is anything worth our time. If you’re heading to the show, you can see this concept at stand 2157 in hall 2 at 2:30 p.m. local time. We’ll bring you all of the details once the automaker reveals them.

Why it matters

With wild designs like the Parcour and the Brivido under its belt, the yearly Italdesign Giugiardo stand at the Geneva Auto Show is always a big draw. Last year was a bit of a drag with the Clipper, despite it having a pretty impressive drivetrain, but this year appears to be redemption time for the Italian automaker.

Unfortunately, unless Italdesign Giugiardo has struck a production deal with an automaker, this concept will remain just that.
