Jag introduced its first-ever SUV, also known as the F-Pace, at the Detroit Auto Show in 2015, bringing head-turning British good looks, high-end luxury, and a decent wallop under the hood as well. Now, there’s even more performance hotness on deck, as rumor has it Jag is gearing up for the reveal of the go-faster F-Pace SVR at the 2018 New York International Auto Show, bringing along more power, new styling, and other tuned-up goodies to match the badge on the trunk.

The Full Story

Just last year, a Jaguar F-Pace mule was spied in full black and white camo at the Nurburgring, where it appeared to be testing out the performance limits of the tall-riding SUV against the twists and turns of the infamous German racing circuit. No doubt, the sport ‘ute in question was the F-Pace SVR, and now it’s looking like we’ll get the skinny on this pumped-up bad cat at the 2018 New York International Auto Show.

The party piece under the hood will be the same blown 5.0-liter V-8 offered in the 200-mph F-Type SVR. Output will get pegged at around 570 horsepower and 515 pound-feet of torque, once again mirroring the two-door sports coupe.

As a reference, the F-Pace currently comes with a top-trimmed 3.0-liter V-6 good for a run to 62 mph in 5.5 seconds.

Routed to the ground through an eight-speed automatic transmission and performance AWD system, the 570 ponies in the F-Pace SVR should be enough to yield a sprint to 62 mph in about 4 seconds flat, making it the fastest F-Pace produced thus far. And while it won’t hit 200 mph like the F-Type, it’ll undoubtedly still have what it takes to challenge all competitors in the segment in terms of speed. As for cornering, the SVR is expected to gain significant upgrades in terms of the suspension and braking package.

It should also have the looks to match, including a new front bumper, larger wheels, and deeper intakes. What’s more, the F-Pace SVR will carry a more aggressive exhaust note courtesy of new titanium pipes terminating in quad tips.

Look for the 2019 Jaguar F-Pace SVR in dealers by the end of the year. When it arrives, the price tag will be rather hefty, with some sources speculating a figure double that of the $42,065 entry model.

For the money, the Jag will compete with the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GLC63 and Porsche Macan Turbo. If it does indeed manage a run to 60 mph in 4 seconds flat, the Jag will best the Macan and match the Merc in terms of acceleration numbers.
