Jaguar Land Rover has some good news for classic car fanatics. The British automaker is opening a classic car refurbishing and restoration center in North America. Apart from restoration, the center will also sell and service JLR’s classic vehicles. The facility will open in Savannah, Georgia in the summer of 2019.

What Can We Expect?

The center will focus on providing a full range of manufacturing services for vehicles out of production for ten years or more, including vehicle health checks and restorations. One can walk into the facility to buy some refurbished models as well. There will also be a purpose-built showroom, from which Jaguar Land Rover will sell a selection of pre-owned classic vehicles. It will be a 75,000 sq.ft, 2-bay workshop with more than 75 highly skilled people working at all times.

Why Savannah?

JLR has a few centers in Europe, but this is the first time it has opened a one outside Europe. Savannah was chosen for its beautiful surroundings, as well as the road and transport connectivity. The facility will be located close to Savannah airport and the Port of Savannah, which is the largest single container terminal in North America.

What Do They Have To Say?

JLR Classic’s director, Tim Hannig, said "Creating a dedicated facility in the U.S. – one of the largest markets for classic car enthusiasts – is an important and exciting step for Jaguar Land Rover Classic,." "We’re delighted to bring the future-proofing classic expertise and support we’ve nurtured in the U.K. direct to U.S. clients."

"The Savannah site is the perfect location for us: a charming setting combining a passionate community and excellent transport links that will make it easier for U.S. clients to benefit from the authentic services and expertise Jaguar Land Rover Classic provides," he added.

Our Take

Stating the obvious, people who own classic cars are the ones who love their cars unconditionally and don’t treat it just as a vehicle that takes them from Point A to Point B. So, this is a brilliant thought by JLR to go that extra mile for the classic car owners. Not only are their cars in safe hands, but it also gives them an opportunity to own more classics from the JLR stable. Now, that’s a win-win situation!
