When will go on sale in early 2008, the competition for the all-new XF sedan will be ierce; the XF sedan will fight for customers in the hotly-contested medium-prestige segment against the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-class and Audi A6.

"First, all four-door Jaguars will be sport sedans; lean, simple and graceful, with an athletic stance and latent power," says Callum. "The cabins will be light sports car cabins, not big heavy overpowering interiors.

The production ca will be built on a modified S-Type platform – which includes carryover suspension geometry, some engines and the six-speed gearbox – and will differ from the stunning C-XF concept in key areas.

The jaguar XF will be powered by a six-cylinder engine of around 3.0 litres and a 4.2-litre V8 in naturally aspirated and supercharged form, the latter possibly with more than 400 hp.
