Just a couple of days before the highly anticipated launch of the 2021 Bronco, Jeep decided to have some fun. The automaker put up a post of Facebook showing the Wrangler’s hood with "392" written on it. It could even be the Gladiator’s hood, but given the timing, we’re more inclined towards it being the Wrangler’s hood.

Anyway, the 392 denotes a 6.4-liter, V-8 HEMI engine that enthusiasts have craved to have in the Wrangler, but the automaker never obliged. With the Bronco’s launch just around the corner, this is Jeep’s way of stealing the former’s thunder. Has it caught everyone’s attention? Oh yes!

Is a Jeep Wrangler SRT On The Cards?

The Wrangler is arguably the best mainstream off-roader on sale today. . Presently, you’d see a lot of owners swapping the stock mills for HEMI V-8s. Aftermarket companies like Hennessey have filled this void for a long time, but despite this, the company never offered one. But, thanks to the Ford Bronco, we might get a V-8 under the Wrangler’s hood.

Jeep posted an image of either the Wrangler or the Gladiator with a new hood that has “392” written on its side. Since both the vehicles have near-identical front ends – from this angle at least – it’s tough to decipher which product this is. But, given that the Bronco is all set to debut, we’re guessing it’s the Wrangler. The 392 essentially denotes a 6.4-liter, V-8 HEMI engine that is seen under many FCA vehicles.

So, we could see similar numbers here as well. Generally, this mill is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, but it’ll be interesting if Jeep offers a manual gearbox here. Just imagine an off-roader with a V-8 engine and a manual gearbox. Bliss!
