2021 can easily be called the year of the Plaid, given how it has annihilated the competition at drag strips around the country
In this latest duel, the Plaid takes on an old Model S P85
But this ain't no regular P85
Say hello to Matt Mikka aka Warped Perception’s jet-powered P85
These babies have a combined output of 300 pounds of thrust, enough to let you coast at 60 mph on the highway, independent of the 470 hp electric motor
Matt had it running on a blend of Kerosene
Along with turbine oil on this ocassion
The center console is unlike any other Tesla and has the engine controls for this three mini jet engines on the derriere
Now frankly, you have to hear this thing in action to listen to the frankly ballistic sound that it produces, a sound that is so out of place in your friendly suburban neighborhood
In the white corner, we have the latest Tesla Model S Plaid
The Plaid of course produces 1020 hp and 1050 lb-ft of torque from its tri-motor setup
With that both Model S' line up for launch. The Plaid is in its Sport mode
While the P85 looks like it's ready for take-off. Splitting flames, it looks like an F15 with the afterburners on an F15, right before take-off on an aircraft carrier
And take off it did, leaving the Plaid in its wake. The P85 dominated round one
For the second pass, they switch up the Plaid to drag strip mode to see if that makes a difference
The answer came shortly after, which was a definitive no
It wasn't until the third round though that
That the Plaid finally came into its element and finally managed to take down the Jet-powered P85
And with that, the pair line up for one final pass, as the P85 has just enough fuel for one final pass. Can it redeem itself against the Plaid? Swipe up to watch the video and find out for yourself.
