As anyone who’s ever worked on video production will tell you, there’s a lot that goes into every single minute of a finalized piece. From editing, to overdubbing, to take after take after take, the polished glory you see when it’s all said and done belies just how much time and effort when into its creation. That goes doubly so when the video in question is the tire-burning madness that is Ken Block’s Gymkhana series. We’ve been loving the videos, and now we’re getting an inside look at what went into their creation, including some of the, er, messier takes. Yeah, your imagination is pretty much spot on.

Each of the following videos contains ten secrets we didn’t know about the Gymkhana videos, like how the Hoonicorn was originally supposed to be a Ford Maverick rather than a ’65 Mustang, or how Block rolled the Fiesta in Gymkhana Eight with just a single scene left to shoot, forcing the Hoonigans to piece it back together in the desert in just a few hours.

It’s pretty interesting stuff if you’re into Block’s videos, so hit play and check ‘em out.
