The Hoonicorn is back on popular demand, for Season two of Hoonicorn vs the World. Apparently, the cars that featured in season one weren’t fast enough and so, to turn it up a notch, the Hoonigan Channel will soon be pitting Ken Blocks Mustang against some outrageously powerful cars, which according to the guys are some of the fastest on YouTube.

NHRA 2012 C6 Corvette

In the blue corner, you have a 2012 C6 Corvette with a stock wheelbase. It is the most powerful and fastest vehicle that can run on an unprepared surface. The car belongs to Alex Laughlin who’s an NHRA Top Fuel racer and U.S. Nationals Champion. Sticking out of the hood is a screw blower, which sits on top of a 526 Hemi that produces, wait for it, 4000 horsepower. To top it off, this engine doesn’t even use any kind of water-cooling. It’s just good ol’ air.

As for the rubber, you can’t really go wrong with 16” wide Mickey Thomson’s at the rear can you now, especially since this C6 is purpose-built to annihilate the competition at the drag strip, all day long. Taking a quick peek inside, you’ll find the 3-speed Lenco transmission, that takes center stage. It sends power to the rear. All the extra performance has added weight though. Although, this C6, which tips the scales at 2800 pounds has ran covered 1/8th mile in 3.5 seconds at 212 mph.

Ken Block’s 1400 Hp Mustang

Next, the guys took us around the Hoonicorn, which really needs no introduction. But the car has had some updates, so we’ll take e look at it anyway. Under the hood lies a NASCAR sourced Ford twin-turbo V-8 engine, that produces 1400 horsepower. The SADEV transmission has been updated with paddle shifters and power sent to all four corners. On the outside, you’ve got a brand new livery along with some new wheels, which are American Racing’s VF503s. The Hoonicorn runs on VP Race Fuels M5 Methanol.

For todays’ showdown, while Alex will be taking the wheel of the C6 Vette, the Hoonicorn will be driven by Lia Block, who is Ken Blocks' 14-year-old daughter. Considering her age and the safety aspect as well, it's reassuring to know that Lia has over the past few months, trained on some of the best and fastest cars out there.

Round 1 - 500 Feet Head 2 Head

Both these monsters line up for the launch. The hammer drops and Lia, unfortunately, jumped the start, and she pretty much stayed in the lead to the line. So you can’t really count this pass. Also, Alex couldn’t really put the C6’s power to the ground as they’re running a high-performance drag racer on an unprepared surface. But things will even out, as you’ll see in the next round.

Round 2 - 500 Feet Head 2 Head

To keep things fair, for the second round, Alex suggests that they pour some traction compound on the ground, and go for yet another 500 feet. Burn-out done, they line up for round two. This time around, both cars got the perfect launch and the C6 was able to put its power down well. It pretty much did a burnout all the way to the finish line. Although the Vette took this one, it was close between the two cars.

Round 3 - 1000 Feet Head 2 Head

For the third round, they decide to double the distance, however, Alex adds that he won’t overdrive it on this pass, and at any point, if he feels it's becoming unsafe, he’d take his foot off the gas. With that, they line up one last time. It’s going time and Lia was able to get the Hoonicorn off the line pretty well this time around. She was in the lead early on and kept that lead to the line.

To Sum it Up

To finish things off, Lia celebrates with a couple of victory donuts. Alex says that she’s got a bright future. In the end, it was a lot of fun watching the Hoonicorn make a comeback once again. I for one can’t wait to see what else it’s going to go up against over the coming weeks. Watch this space.
