Kia went to the Geneva Motor Show and had a good time showcasing its new Ceed compact, among its other reveals. But the automaker’s activity isn’t just limited to the subcompact segment. At the top of its totem pole sits the K900, and the newest version of the flagship sedan is all set to make its own debut in April. But, before that happens, Kia has released a few sketch renderings previewing the sedan, giving us a glimpse of what we can expect when it takes its bow in a month’s time.

There’s a lot riding on the new Kia K900 to live up to its billing as the Korean automaker’s flagship model. Kia certainly didn’t waste time giving us a preview of what we can expect. The Korean automaker described the new sedan’s aesthetics as “sophisticated and stately,” two words that any self-respecting luxury sedan should have.

The K900 is also expected to have an all-new headlights technology and a new grille that’s based on “changing shapes of condensed energy.” The choice of words in describing the latter is interesting considering that the sketches still show a version of the automaker’s Tigernose grille that wraps around 176 individual cells that stretch out the further away you get from the car’s center. It’s a unique interpretation of a what we know Kia’s grille to be so that’s something we can look forward to when the real K900 shows its face for the first time.

From the back, we can make out a section that looks like a luxury Mercedes. That’s good news if you’re Kia because getting compared to the German automaker means that it’s doing something right. The sedan’s tail lights and rear exhaust housings are also surrounded by chrome — a nice touch — while the overall shape lends in very flattering ways. Maybe it’s the play in shadows that were used in the sketches, but it shows a long, sleek, and muscular sedan that looks the part of a legitimate flagship model.

Other details about the new K900 are still being kept under wraps, so it’s unclear exactly what kind of interior it has and what kind of engine it’s carrying. What we do know at this point is that the luxury sedan is nearing its debut. That means that all our questions will be answered soon.
