Well, this is a little different, isn’t it? Koenigsegg’s on-going Regera rendering exercise has yielded some impressive results over the past few weeks. We’ve seen the megacar dressed up in fancy colors like Bordeaux Red and Battleship Grey. We've seen the Regera get the all-black treatment. We’ve even seen one Regera rendering inspired by the late music icon Prince. Today, Koenigsegg is back with a new rendering from no less than its chief designer Joachim Nordwall, whose interpretation involves turning a flashy eye on the Regera.

Six renderings into this admittedly impressive exercise, we finally get a Regera in colors typically associated with performance cars of supreme ability. Take a look at it. The orange and white treatment is flashy, flamboyant, and difficult to take your eyes off of, for all the right reasons. If you’re seen driving a Regera in these colors, you better be prepared for the waves of attention you’re automatically going to get. That comes with the territory of having a supercar that pops out even more because of how it looks in vivid color.

This particular Regera rendering also tells us something about the styling preference of the man who led the design effort of the car in the first place. Joachim Nordwall is Koenigsegg’s design chief so you can be sure that when the company was developing the look of the megacar, it had to get the approval of Nordwall before it could proceed to develop and subsequently build. It’s nice to see then that Nordwall isn’t above this particular exercise and it’s even better that he didn’t pull any punches with his interpretation because, at the very least, his rendering of the Regera is definitely not for the meek of spirit. It explodes with color and personality, just like what the Koenigsegg Regera is supposed to be.

This Regera rendering gets a shot of color

The official color of Joachim Nordwall’s Koenigsegg Regera rendering is Sweet Mandarine. I’m not making that up even though the orange shade does remind me more of a popsicle stick. Either way, the color suits the Regera’s fiery personality, and on top of that, it’s one of a few times since this whole rendering exercise started wherein the Regera is treated to a familiar Koenigsegg color treatment. Take a look back at the company’s brief but significant history, and you’ll notice how orange – certain shades of it at least – has turned into one of the company’s go-to colors for its supercars. The Koenigsegg CCX was available in orange, including the special edition CCXR Platinus E100. Orange was also a favorite color for the Agera and some of its derivatives like the Agera R and Agera XS.

Now that the Koenigsegg Regera is here, it’s no surprise that Koenigsegg’s design chief is not only using a tried-and-tested color for its version of the megacar, it’s also complementing it with racing stripes finished in Arctic White. Here’s what’s cool about this particular design: its layout is different from the previous employee renderings we’ve seen. Of the five previous renderings, three of them featured a big thick stripe running the length of the car’s body. One was completely black, and the other utilized thin white stripes that looked more decorative than anything else.

For his part, Nordwall’s Arctic White stripes have a little decorative element to it too, but the stripes are still noticeable enough to stand out on their own really. Plus, if you look at the car long enough, there’s a chance that images of the Ford GT40 pop up in your head. The two cars aren’t identical by any means, but the way those Arctic White racing stripes rest on the Sweet Mandarine body color of the Regera does evoke some memories of the old Ford performance car. Nordwall concluded his rendering of the Regera’s exterior with a set of hollow-core carbon wheels and black brake calipers sitting ominously behind them.

Move to the interior, and things become a lot more subdued compared to the exterior of the Regera. High-contrast black and white leather is the predominant material in the cabin. The quilted stitching on the backrests of the seats add a touch of luxury to the cabin and the presence of polished aluminum and naked carbon fiber provide the perfect complements to the opulent look of the interior. Trims of blue can also be found scattered throughout the interior, which itself is a surprising addition considering how blue and orange don’t really mix well together unless we’re talking about a combination akin to Gulf Racing’s iconic racing livery.

Overall, Nordwall’s work is a bit polarizing, but it is effective in making the Regera stand out more than it already does. I personally like it because orange is a favorite color of mine. Add the unique detail of the Arctic White racing stripes and this rendering vaults right up to the top of my personal rankings with Johan Bjurmar’s Bordeaux Regera and Mattias Vox’s Battleship Grey Regera.
