A time of 6 minutes, 45 seconds would place this bad bull at the top

The up-and-coming Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce Jota was already shaping up to be an absolute monster, rocking more power, less weight, and extra aero stick to result in one of the brand’s most potent track weapons. If true, the Aventador SVJ would punt the current record-holding Porsche 911 GT2 RS from the top spot by 2 seconds.

Recently spied out and about on the demanding German racetrack, it’s rumored the folks from Lambo have every intention of setting a new lap record with the Aventador SVJ, the as-yet-unreleased go-faster version of the already insane Lamborghini Aventador. But if rumors are to be believed, it’s possible they may have just done exactly that.

The news comes courtesy of social media, where Instagram user 43lambo has made the claim that Lambo just reset the record books:

Breaking News: the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is rumored to have broken the Nurburgring Nordschleife production car lap record by 2 seconds putting it in the 6.45 range! ____________________________________________________________________________________________#amazingcars247 #carinstagram #lamborghini #aventador #LP750-4 #Performante #Lambo #lamborghinigramm #43lambo #Aventador #Centenario #carswithoutlimits #carlifestyle #auto #autokings #autogespot #automotivegramm #madwhips #madwhips_bull #dupontregistry #Exotic #black_list #exotic_performance #exotic_cars #motor_head_ #porsche #motorsport #racecar #Ferrari #mclaren

So far, no details have been offered, and we have yet to see any other source corroborate the claim, so we’re not totally buying it quite yet. However, if true, it would punt the current record-holding Porsche 911 GT2 RS from the top spot, beating Stuttgart’s time of 6 minutes, 47 seconds by 2 seconds.

It’s certainly within the realm of possibility. Previous Nurburgring lap records held by the Italian performance brand include a time of 6 minutes, 52 seconds set by the Huracan Performante just last year, as well as a sub-7-minute time by the Aventador SV set back in 2015.

The bad bull Lamborghini Aventador SVJ absolutely has the goods to make that time a reality.

What’s more, the bad bull Lamborghini Aventador SVJ absolutely has the goods to make that time a reality. Providing the motivation is a 6.5-liter V-12 powerplant, which routes nearly 800 horsepower to all four corners to produce a top speed around 217 mph. The SVJ is also lighter than its less-hardcore siblings, and it comes brimming with updated aero components to make it stick even harder while unleashing all those all-atmosphere Italian ponies.

Stay tuned, as we expect Lambo to make it official with the debut of the Aventador Superveloce Jota.
