This track-only supercar features the most-powerful naturally-aspirated V-12 engine that Lamborghini has ever built!

Lamborghini didn’t really have any new products on the horizon, but here we are today looking at the new SCV-12. It’s a track-focused hypercar that’s powered by the most powerful naturally-aspirated V-12 engine that the Italian automaker has ever built. A few details about it were also revealed, but we won’t know the full, in-depth details until hypercar launches later this year.

What’s Special About The SCV12?

This hypercar is the latest addition to Lamborghini’s Motorsport division, Squadra Corse’s portfolio. In October last year, the company teased and announced that it would debut sometime in 2020. Fast-forward eight months and we have the first look of the hypercar, albeit in camouflage.

The SVC12 is designed by the in-house division, Lamborghini Centro Stile, and is all about aerodynamics.

The company claims that its aerodynamic ratings and downforce levels are higher than a GT3 car.

Lamborghini was able to achieve this courtesy of the double air intake and a central rib that directs the airflow to the air intake scoop located on the roof. The company said that the SCV12 is capable of exceeding 830 horses, thanks to “aerodynamic supercharging at high speed.”

This essentially means that the air pressure created by the hypercar’s movement increases the static air pressure that’s flowing through the intake scoop and directs it straight into the engine. This leads to greater airflow and results in more power. The automaker has also installed a front splitter, vertical fins on the side sills, and the huge carbon fiber wing at the rear. It rides on 19-inch wheels in the front and 20-inch at the back which are wrapped in Pirelli tires.

What Powers The SCV12?

The company has revealed a few tech details as well. The SCV12 is based on a full carbon fiber Squadra Corse chassis. It will be powered by a naturally-aspirated V-12 engine that makes 830 ponies.

This makes it the most powerful NA V-12 in the company’s 50-plus years of history

. Power is sent only to the rear wheels via a sequential six-speed gearbox with a pushrod rear suspension system paired directly to it.

Final Thoughts

The company has not revealed the price or how many numbers it will build, but it will be a limited-edition model. The owners will get access to a very exclusive club that will allow them to participate in advanced driving programs at some of the world’s most prestigious circuits. They will be guided by five-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner, Emanuele Pirro.

Lamborghini said that the Squadra Corse SCV12 is ready to hit the tracks and is scheduled for a summer 2020 launch. It will be at Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese.

Press Release:

  • Track-only limited edition hypercar world première is scheduled for summer 2020
  • The engine is the most powerful V12 from Lamborghini to date
  • Aerodynamic efficiency and higher downforce levels than a GT3 car

Sant’Agata Bolognese, 23 June 2020 – Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s track-only hypercar, the
Lamborghini SCV12, has completed its development programme and is now ready to hit the track
for its world première, scheduled for summer 2020.
Fitted with the most powerful V12 naturally aspirated engine from Lamborghini to date, the SCV12
– designed by the in-house Lamborghini Centro Stile – is capable of exceeding 830 hp thanks to
aerodynamic supercharging at high speed.
The SCV12 benefits from Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s GT motorsport expertise, using its racing
experience to produce increased aerodynamic efficiency and higher downforce levels than a GT3
car. The SCV12’s front bonnet has a double air intake and a central rib directing airflow to the ram-
air intake scoop located on the roof. This directs dynamic air pressure created by the car’s
movement to increase static air pressure in the engine’s intake manifold, creating greater airflow
through the engine and increasing power. The car’s clear track intent and aerodynamic efficiency is
further enhanced by the prominent splitter at the front, lateral flicks and vertical fins on the side
sills, while at the rear is a custom-built carbon fibre rear wing.
Several aspects of the SCV12 have been developed particularly for the hypercar, with specific
racing solutions devised by Squadra Corse engineers, including a new fully carbon fibre chassis
that allows for a greater power-to-weight ratio as well as the best handling and circuit driving
experience.
The lightweight chassis with rear-wheel drive incorporates a sequential six-speed gearbox as a
structural element within the chassis, reducing weight and enhancing weight distribution. Pushrod
rear suspension is system installed directly on the gearbox, while power is delivered on the track
courtesy of specially developed slick Pirelli tyres fitted on magnesium rims (19” front, 20” rear).
The SCV12 will be assembled entirely within the Lamborghini Squadra Corse factory in Sant’Agata
Bolognese, as a limited edition. Customers will become members of a very exclusive club: they will
participate in advanced driving programmes at some of the world’s most prestigious circuits, with
the technical assistance of Squadra Corse engineers and the special tutoring of Emanuele Pirro,
five-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Lamborghini Squadra Corse Special Projects
Consultant.
