After the cinematic success that was Ford V Ferrari, we car enthusiasts are about to get what is shaping up to be another epic recreation of a historical moment in the automotive industry. “Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend” will recreate the historical feud between Enzo Ferrari and Ferruccio Lamborghini. This pivotal moment led to the creation of Lamborghini’s first sports car and consequently, to one of the biggest rivalries in the automotive industry, one that we continue to witness today. Here’s what we managed to gather from the first movie trailer.

An impressive cast

It doesn’t take long to notice an impressive cast, which includes Frank Grillo. The actor who happens to be of Italian origin, despite growing up in New York, is playing the role of Ferrucio Lamborghini – a successful tractor manufacturer who, like most successful men bought not one, but a few of Enzo Ferrari’s fabled sports cars. In most recent times, Grillo has starred in various action movies among which Homefront, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Wheelman, Avengers: Endgame, Boss Level, Hitman’s Wif’s Bodyguard, and more.

Meanwhile, Golden Globe winner, Gabriel Byrne will be starring as Enzo Ferrari. The Lamborghini 350 GT was introduced in 1964, at which point in time, Enzo Ferrari, who was born in 1898, was 66 years old. Byrne, who has been acting since 1972 is, currently, 72 years old, but his youthfulness allows him to fill the role of the Italian constructor and racecar driver.

Honoring the engineers behind the first Lamborghini

It’s a well-known fact that Ferrucio Lamborghini managed to recruit a talented team in order to create the Lamborghini 350 GT, whose body was designed by Carrozzeria Touring. We expect to see Giotto Bizarinni, the engineer behind the Lamborghini V-12, in the movie, who according to the lore, Ferruccio “stole” from Ferrari.

An impressive array of Italian exotics

The movie plot is expected to span over a decade, tracing the rivalry between the two Italian constructors. We know this because, in the trailer, we see cars like the 1957 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder, 1964 Lamborghini 350 GT, and a late-model Lamborghini Countach racing against a 1980 Ferrari Mondial. It wouldn’t be a proper movie about Lamborghini if they don’t include one of the most iconic supercars of all time – the Miura – which makes for an epic conclusion to the trailer, as you will see for yourselves.

We are eager to see whether Grillo and Byrne will be able to recreate the intense chemistry between the two automotive titans. At the point of writing this, no release date has been announced, but we expect it to be no later than the first half of 2023.
