Check out Merc’s latest four-door rocket ship before it makes the official splashdown

The 2018 Geneva International Motor Show is just about here, but some folks simply can’t wait. Such is the case with this leaked image of the new Mercedes-AMG GT4, which got posted to Carscoops just one day before the big event.

Shown in the front three-quarters view, the image depicts what appears to be a large, fixed rear wing, while up front there’s a rounded Panamericana grille with vertical dividing slats. The side intakes are huge, and there’s a chrome outline for the lower intake. Up top is a coupe-like curve for the roof, while the wheels get black spokes with a polished lip, under which are enormous yellow brake calipers. LED lighting can be found at both ends. The paint looks like a matte black finish, which is highly suggestive of the performance potential lying in wait. Speaking of which, this new AMG machine is believed to boast a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 under that muscle-bound hoodline, possibly with the addition of an electric motor to make over 800 horses. We’d also expect some top-shelf opulence inside the cabin, taking cues from the latest E-Class and CLS.

The four-door could be seen as a replacement for the CLS63 AMG, and will run against competitors from Audi, BMW, and Porsche. Tune in tomorrow for the latest, when it’s possible this fire-breather will debut alongside a less-potent, de-winged version.
