When it comes to movie cars, the DeLorean time machine is one of the most iconic ones out there. Despite the real-life car being far from perfect, Lego came up with three models of the iconic vehicle, and went back to the famous backlot at Universal Studios, Hollywood, where it all started, in order to showcase them alongside the original movie car.

The teaser goes, all the way, back to where it all began – the clock in the first scene shows the date, 26 October, 1985, which is where the action in the first movie started. We then see Doc Brown, Marty McFly, and even Einstein as the miniature time machine takes shape and leaves burning marks, just like the full-size car from the movies. An epic piece of content with loads of Easter eggs.

LEGO came up with three different versions of the DeLorean time machine, from each of the three, Back to the Future movies. The attention to detail is mind-boggling and various details, like the wheels folding down for flight mode, the light-up flux capacitor, functioning gull-wing doors and hood, Marty’s hoverboard, switchable license plates, and much more.

“Since its release in 1985, Back to the Future continues to be a cult film and a favorite for generations of fans all over the world – including myself. I had so much fun reliving my favorite moments from all three films on this exciting and nostalgic design adventure. The shared timelessness of LEGO bricks and the Back to the Future franchise is something we really wanted to capture for this set, so we hope fans will enjoy racing through time in LEGO-style”, said Lego Set Designer, Sven Francis.

The LEGO set includes a staggering amount of 1,872 pieces so you will spend plenty of time building it. The brick builders will have a choice to make, as each of the three DeLorean Time Machine models requires pieces from the full set. I guess, it depends on which of the three movies was your favorite. Regardless of which one it is, the LEGO Back to the Future set will be available at a recommended retail price of $169.99, in all LEGO stores or on Lego.com/bttf, from 1st April 2022.
