Build an iconic Blue Oval brick by brick!

We love all things automotive, especially when we can build it ourselves and display it on a shelf. And that’s why we adore Lego’s various car builder kits, the latest of which is a throwback to the Golden Age of muscle cars. Say hello to the 1967 Ford Mustang, now Lego’d!

The Only Thing Missing From The 1967 Ford Mustang Lego Kit Is The Tire Smoke

Plucked straight from the late ‘60s, this Ford Mustang Fastback Lego kit is hugely detailed thanks to a total 1,470 pieces in the kit. It’s big too, measuring in at nearly four inches in height, 13.4 inches in length, and five-and-a-half inches in width.
The body is finished in dark blue, plus it comes with the requisite white racing stripes. In front is a hood scoop and Mustang badge for the grille. Five-spoke wheels wrapped with sticky tires are mounted in the corners, while a number of GT emblems are added here and there. You can also lift up the rear axle for a raked, race-ready appearance, if desired.

Adding to the fun factor is an articulating trunk lid, which reveals a space big enough to put things in. Or you can pop the hood to view the 390 big block V-8 underneath, which comes complete with a battery, hoses, and air filter.

When it first hit the streets in real life, the Mustang’s 390 created upwards of 335 horsepower.

Moving to the interior, you can either open the doors or remove the roof to check out all the details inside, which includes the Mustang’s classic seats, a radio, a steering wheel (complete with a working steering system), and a gear shift.

What’s more, Lego also says the ‘Stang can be “customized with additional muscle car components,” with optional add-ons like a supercharger, a ducktail spoiler, big exhaust pipes, a front spoiler, and even a tank of nitrous, plus a number of optional license plates as well.

The new 1967 Ford Mustang Lego kit will go on sale globally March 1st. Get it in certified Lego Stores or online at Pricing is set at $150 here in the States, 120 pounds in the U.K., or 130 euros in Germany.

Yet Another Awesome Automotive-Themed Lego Kit!

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen some rather tempting car-builder kits from Lego.

Previously, we’ve seen Lego offer a modern sixth-generation Ford Mustang and a Ford F-150 Raptor, as well as a hugely detailed Porsche 911 GT3 RSR through the Lego Technic series. Then of course there’s the 2019 Speed Champions lineup, which includes standouts like a McLaren Senna and 720S, 1967 Mini Cooper S Rally and 2018 Mini John Cooper Works Buggy, 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, and Ferrari F40 Competizione.

Pretty awesome stuff, but we’re most impressed by the full-scale Lego Bugatti Chiron, which mimics the real thing down to the smallest of details. It even drives!

All told, more Lego is more better as far as we’re concerned. You won’t get any busted knuckles when putting this thing together, and the significant other won’t kick you out of the house if you bring it home either. Sounds like a win-win.

Ford and LEGO® Group announce arrival of highly-customisable and iconic 1967 Ford Mustang in LEGO brick form
New 1,470-piece kit features working steering, dark-blue bodywork and printed Mustang grille badge; can also be customised with additional muscle car components
Ford Mustang LEGO Creator Expert set is available globally directly from LEGO Stores and as of March 1, priced €129.99 in Germany and £119.99 in the U.K.

COLOGNE, Germany, Feb. 22, 2019 – A true American hero will soon be screeching into stores with the arrival of the LEGO Creator Expert Ford Mustang from March 1.

Developed in a partnership between Ford and LEGO® Group, the new Creator Expert: Ford Mustang model is based on a 1967 Fastback. Made up of 1,470 pieces, the nostalgic muscle car comes complete with working steering, dark-blue bodywork, white racing stripes, bonnet scoop, printed Mustang grille badge, GT emblems, and five-spoke rims with road-gripping tyres.

Measuring over 10 centimetres high, 34 centimetres long and 14 centimetres wide, the new set will give budding builders the chance to customise their all-American icon to their own specification thanks to a collection of optional add-ons – while retaining its instantly recognisable symbol of the Mustang pony logo.

Customisation options include a supercharger, rear ducktail spoiler, beefy exhaust pipes, front chin spoiler and a nitrous oxide tank for an authentic muscle car build experience.

“There are few cars on the road that are as instantly recognisable as the Ford Mustang, and it’s exciting to see the iconic car’s combination of design and heritage come through in this LEGO set,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe.

The authentic replica model also allows owners to store items in the trunk or lift the hood to reveal a detailed big block 390 cubic inch (6.4-litre) V8 engine with battery, hoses and air filter detailing.

The rear axle of the car can be lifted for an extra-mean look, the doors can be opened and the roof panel removed to give access to the detailed interior with classic seats, radio, working steering and a mid-console gearshift.

A printed mustang grille badge, GT emblems and a selection of license plates add the final touches to this extraordinary LEGO Creator Expert model.

“The Ford Mustang is one of the most iconic, symbolic cars in history – and to bring this fan favourite muscle car to life in brick form, with this level of customisation, has been exhilarating,” said Jamie Berard, Design Lead on LEGO Creator Expert. “We can’t wait to see our LEGO and Ford Mustang fans’ own creations when they get their hands on this new set.”

The LEGO Creator Expert: Ford Mustang is available directly from LEGO stores and as of March 1, 2019.
