Are you upset that Ford used the "Mustang" and "Mach" badges on an all-electric crossover? Well, things could have been worse. Whether it should carry a Mustang badge or not, the Mach-E looks pretty cool. But we can't say the same about a crossover based on the first-generation Mustang. Yes, we know that Ford never designed such a thing, but Instagram's wb.artist20 just rendered this crazy idea, and it looks awkward, to say the least.

This 1960's Style Mustang Mach-E is The Definition of Ugly

It combined headlamps, a grille, and fenders that look very close to the Mustang's with the typical design features of a sporty crossover, like a coupe-style roof, subtle wheel arch cladding, and a taller body. But you can't do that with the first-generation Mustang.

As this rendering shows, the proportions become really weird when a tall, SUV-style cabin is dropped onto a 1968 Shelby GT500 body.} The increased ride height and the longer wheelbase make things a bit better overall, but a wagon-style roof simply doesn't work with the muscular shoulders of the first-generation Mustang. The side vents, the quarter window louvers, and the rear spoiler, all iconic Mustang design cues, don't look that great on an SUV.

"What if Ford had introduced the Mustang with a crossover variant from the beginning? Maybe called it the "Mach G"? Would so many people dislike the Mach E still," the artist asked on his Instagram post. And those are interesting questions, even though 1968 Mustang SUV would have looked notably different.
