Ahh yes, the life of a young Formula 1->ke190 champion. After failing to clinch the season title by a single point in 2007, Hamilton came back in 2008 to become the youngest Formula 1 champion in history at the time. Last year, he doubled up on his titles with another championship win.

Clearly, the man has absolutely amazing talent behind the wheel. But after flinging yourself around a track at triple-digit speeds, slogging through endless waves of press people, and working side-by-side with engineers to fine-tune the insane complexities of a modern F1 car, how do you blow off some steam?

Why, you climb into the cockpit of your custom purple Pagani->ke66 and burn rubber around Monaco, of course. The British-born race driver moved to the principality back in 2012, and can be seen on his Facebook page enjoying the picturesque scenery next to his one-off hypercar in what I can only imagine are some of the few opportunities for him to not be in a racing suit.

It’s a combination that makes sense – highly paid international racing superstar, outrageously expensive speed machinery, and one of the most glamorous destinations in the world. It kinda begs the question of why folks like you and I should even bother to have a Facebook account.

Why it matters

Social media should probably be reserved for folks that have interesting lives, don’t you think? Nobody cares what you had for lunch or how waiting in line at the bank made you feel, unless, of course, that lunch consisted of something about to go extinct and that line at the bank was for autographs while you deposited a check with at least seven figures on it.

Yes, this is shameless self-promotion on Hamilton’s part. And yes, those “candid” shots are probably singled out from dozens. But hey, if you got it, you might as well flaunt it. I’m not jealous at all. Nope, not at all. (sniff)

Pagani Zonda 760LH

When your work car is regularly seen at the front of an F1 grid, purchasing a Camry->ke246 for the daily commute just won’t cut it. That’s why Lewis Hamilton called up Pagani and ordered this completely custom 760 RS. The biggest difference you’ll find is the installation of a manual gearbox, because, as Hamilton puts it, “my company car has a paddle-change gearbox, so when I drive for fun, I want a manual.”

Hear-hear! Part of the fun is the massive AMG V-12 engine putting down 760 horsepower through a six-speed, with a third pedal for a max velocity in excess of 200 mph. We recently had a look at another manual Zonda 760, but that custom one-off sported a removable roof, offering plenty of blue sky and a drop-dead gorgeous roadster styling. It’s the kind of feature that would work in a place like Monaco.
