When Lexus launched the new LX luxury SUV everyone was impressed by how good it looks and how luxurious the interior is. However, we have to admit the LX does not exactly excel when it comes to its off-road capabilities. For example, the U.S. will only get the F Sport model that will come equipped with only one rear Torsen limited-slip differential.

The Japanese market is a lot luckier: it will also get an LX Offroad trim equipped with three locking differentials. For the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon, Lexus tries to see how far these off-road capabilities of the LX can be improved and it came up with a one-off edition developed in cooperation with JAOS Corporation.

The one-off edition is called "LX Offroad" and, according to the company, "is the result of the desire of both companies to provide customers with an all-new experience." For the exterior, the two companies opted for lightweight, high rigidity infusion-molded CFRP parts for both the front and the rear.

The special edition is based on the LX 600, so it will offer the same specification figures. As a reminder, the LX 600 is powered by a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 engine that delivers a total of 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and sends its power to all four wheels.

In short, the list of updates offered for the one-off LX Offroad include:

- Front Skid Protector (CFRP)

- Rear Skid Protector (CFRP)

- Over Fender type-R (CFRP)

- Wheels (JAOS TRIBE CROSS 20x9.5J Titanium Gold)

- Tires (TOYO TIRES OPEN COUNTRY A/T3 285/55R20)

- Mud Guard (Sample only)

- Door Handle Protector

- Muffler Cutter (Sample only)

The 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon will take place from January 14 to 16, 2022, so hopefully we will have more details on this one-off model then.
