• Lexus’ Upcoming EV Supercar Could Be a Worthy Successor To the Legendary LFA

The Electrified Sport coupe made it’s first public appearance alongside the RZ 450e, UX 300e and the NX 450h+ at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

It was an overwhelming experience for car enthusiasts when Lexus announced its EV supercar in 2021, almost a decade after the demise of its first supercar, the LFA. Since then, we have been eagerly waiting to witness the Electrified Sport concept in real life. Thankfully, Lexus brought the coupe for its first public experience, alongside its first EV SUV, the RZ 450e, the UX 300e, and the plug-in hybrid NX 450h+ at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed was as adventurous as possible, a lot of which was thanks to the debut of the most anticipated M3 Touring from BMW, Porsche’s new LMDh race car prototype, and the 874-horsepower Polestar 5 Electric GT. But as promised, Lexus introduced the Electrified Sport at this magnificent event inside an EV-only zone called Electric Avenue. Lexus claims that the audience who witnessed the EV concept found it as dramatic as the ultra-rare LFA from a design point of view.

The Electrified Sport was one of the 16 EV concepts showcased in December 2021 by Toyota’s president, Akio Toyoda, who confirmed that the luxury brand will go all-electric by 2035. Except for the symphonic V-10 of the LFA, the Electrified Sport, if it makes it to production, will possess the same thrilling driving dynamics and even better performance, as Lexus confirmed a 0-62 MPH sprint between 2.0-2.5 seconds. Also, the luxury brand talked about the potential use of new solid-state battery tech, which could increase the range to 435 miles on a single charge.

Lexus did not make it clear when the supercar’s production-spec debut will happen, though. Instead, it stated that “this unique model represents Lexus’ vision for an all-electric, high-performance sports car, a foretaste of what the future might hold as the company evolves to become a luxury brand dedicated to battery electric vehicle.”

After its launch in April 2022, It was displayed publicly in the UK for the first time and will go on sale later in 2022. Also, the UX 300e, the cheapest Lexus EV, joined the party along with the plug-in hybrid all-new NX 450h+.
