It's not the first time that we have heard that Lexus has plans for a BMW 1-Series competitor, but today the luxury automaker has just come out with new details about the car. According to the automotive journal, AutoCar, the new Lexus hatchback will be built on the same platform as the HS250h and will make its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Even if the Japanese manufacturer hasn't revealed the car's official name, we expect to see a combination of "BS" or "CS" in the title. The future compact Lexus will be a gas-electric hybrid-only model powered by a 2.4 Liter four cylinder engine that, with the help of an electric motor, is set to produce 187 HP, not too shabby for a hybrid.

According to an AutoCar insider: "The Frankfurt concept is called C-Premium. It’s a 90% match for the real thing, which we’ll see at Geneva next year. It should be on sale in the UK by Autumn 2010."
