As you may already know, the English sports car builder Lotus will be introducing a convertible into its Evora line-up. Set to be launched sometime in the next three years, the convertible version will be a strict two-seater.

In an interview with AutoCar, the man responsible for the Evora’s exterior appearance, Steve Crijns, had this to say about the roof: " will need to have a light roof. It's most likely going to be a soft-top as a hard-top system is very heavy and very complicated; that really doesn't belong in a sports car, and it's not a Lotus way of working." Crijns would make Lotus founder Colin Chapman proud with that comment.

Chapman was quoted as once saying “Any car which holds together for more than a race is too heavy” a proud motto for the track, but a little scary for road cars.
