In the course of a couple of years, Mastretta has touted their very own sports car, the MXT, as the country's first offering in the high-speed, torque-bending world of the auto industry.

The development of the car may have taken longer than expected, but now, word has it that the MXT is getting ready to be rolled out into production later this month. To say that the road towards this goal has been difficult is a major understatement. From budget constraints to production delays to component changes, it seems that everything but the kitchen sink has been thrown in the direction of Mastretta to hinder the future of the MXT. But now that the production light has finally turned green, the Mexican sports car, is about ready to hit the streets, much to the delight and relief of the people who worked years to get to this position.

The Mastretta MXT will debut with a 2.0-liter turbocharged Ford Duratec engine producing 250 horsepower and 250 lb/ft of torque, along with an expected price tag of around $58,000. This may seem expensive given its capabilities, but give these guys a break; they've worked tirelessly for seven years to build a car that will get noticed. The higher-than-usual price is more the result of a labor of love and dedication than anything else.
