We apparently couldn’t have picked a better time to get a little drifting crazy because, as of June 19, 2011, Mauro Calo has officially entered the Guinness World Book of World Records with the longest car drift. Calo and his completely unmodified Mercedes C63 AMG sports sedan have smashed the existing World Record by 394 meters achieving a total distance of 2308 meters. This feat will get his name scrawled on the record books, adding yet another title to his established driving career.

To achieve the record breaking distance, Mauro chose part of the Handling Circuit at Mercedes-Benz World, Weybridge Surrey. The circuit provided a complete 360 degree circle of tarmac which saw him complete almost 8 laps.

Andrew Mallery, Commercial Operations Director, Mercedes-Benz Cars commented: “When Mauro approached us to hold his record breaking attempt on the circuit at Mercedes-Benz World we were happy to offer him the support. He has been a valuable member of the driving experience team for several years and is a respected driver in the industry, so there was no doubt he would achieve his aim”.

Job well done, Sir!

I’m watching the video every now and then; And examined his car’s drifting actions. Looks like am watching it onscreen. There was no cut in between scenes, right?

That was really a fortunate record. I cannot believe that he drifted perfectly. His performance is really outstanding. Congratulations Mauro Calo for being the title holder of longest car drifter.

I never thought a C series can perform like this! And I think its just making a great upgrade for this car nowadays. Aside from the elegance of the car we can expect for a more powerful engine.

Wow! That was a continuous loop. The engine becomes louder when it gets smokier! I have seen the levels of difficulty that he made to make an awesome drift! Well donesmiley

Congratulations to Mauro Calo! I’m just curious how much time did he spent practicing the drift to reach its new record?

I am really quite amazed at how they were actually able to pull this one off. Just think of it, the length of the drift alone will certainly take its toll on the car and the driver.

Yeah, this is most likely just a trial run for the actual attempt that they would do. But even though it is just their first run, they actually made a pretty impressive performance.

I think this one is way too short of the 10,000 feet that Mercedes promised a few weeks back. But that one is not really a problem as they would probably try attempting that one again.

Wow! That’s awesome for a completely unmodified Mercedes C63 AMG to get the longest Car Drift. This simply proves that Mauro Calo is a driver that should be chased by drifters.

Wow, ain’t that fast. I thought it would take them at least two months before they would try to pull this one off. But lo and behold, they actually did it in just a few weeks.

hmm. I never thought the this car has the potential in drifting! I haven’t count on how many turns that it made in the oval but I think when it finished after four minutes, I guess it could actually make another round! What a drift!
I really enjoyed it and Congrats to Mauro Calo.
