Mazda2 hits 1million figure in Japan
Mazda officials announced that Mazda2 known as Mazda Demio on over seas markets has reached the 7 figured number towards the end of September. After ten years and almost three months the Mazda2 bearing the 1million number came out of the Ujina Plant no1 near Mazda’s main headquarter near the legendary city of Hiroshima.

Due to these characteristics, in Japan only the target of 4.000 units per month reached a peak of 14,250units (in march 1998). Also . the car was awarded different prizes and titles, such as RJC Car of the year in 1996-1997.
The second generation appeared six years later in august 2002. Completely redesigned, it shortly appeared in Mazda’s starting line-up.
In august 2006, after 10 years of production, Mazda2 a.k.a. Mazda Demio became Mazda’s longest selling product.
