McLaren Teases 570LT\600LT with Top Exhaust Exits, Sets Debut for June 20
This could turn into a delightful-sounding McLaren with enough throttle noise to make our ears bleedby Kirby Garlitos, on
The McLaren 570LT is coming, and apparently, a new teaser released by McLaren shows that it’s coming with top-exit exhausts that have the potential to give the 570LT a better soundtrack compared to the 570S. Details are still scarce about the upcoming model, but in addition to the delightful location of the exhausts, it’s also going to arrive in limited quantities. Or as McLaren puts it, “limited to the few.”
This teasing game of the McLaren 570LT is already getting us excited. It’s expected to debut on June 28 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, so that, at least, is good news. We won’t have to wait months for its arrival.
As far as the 570LT itself is concerned, we know precious little about the model other than what McLaren has been feeding us through its teaser images. We know that it’s going to belong in the entry-level Sports Series of McLaren’s family of lineups. That means that we should temper our expectations on what it’s capable of. The 570LT isn’t going to be faster or more powerful than models like the 650S, 675LT, and 720S, the models that belong in the upper-tier Super Series. But, as far as the Sports Series goes, the 570LT should be the cream of the crop.
According to Autocar, the 570LT could have more than 600 horsepower on tap. It’s a great number to see on the limited edition model, but it’s also far from being the most important aspect of the supercar. Just as important is its weight and aerodynamics, two qualities that became the touch points of the 675LT, the same model that shares the “LT” suffix with this new model.
It just so happens that having top-exit exhausts helps accomplish that weight-saving characteristic. At least we know that McLaren’s putting the exhausts in that location for a reason. Beyond that, we can expect the 570LT to have a good amount of aerodynamic upgrades. We already got a good look at the carbon fiber diffuser from a previous teaser photo so we can look forward to more of its kind in the body of the supercar.
Ultimately, the McLaren 570LT is shaping up to be another mental creation from McLaren. We’ve seen what the automaker’s capable of — just look at the Senna — when it’s working on all cylinders. The 570LT may not be faster or more powerful than the Senna, but it sure is going to be as desirable. There’s no word yet on how many units McLaren plans to build, but given that it’s “limited to a few” as the automaker says, don’t expect any more than 500 units to be offered with each model priced in the neighborhood of £200,000. That’s around $270,000 in case you’re already looking for ways to afford one.
