McLaren has announced the latest addition to its top-shelf Ultimate Series. It’s called the Speedtail, and its a limited-run, multi-million dollar, ground-bound rocket ship stuffed with speed-making hybrid power and oodles of customizability. Production kicks off in about a year, and all 106 examples are already spoken for.

The Full Story

If this latest insane-mobile from McLaren sounds familiar, it should. We first heard about it as the BP23 project, and now, it looks like it’s finally becoming a reality.

The Speedtail will be the first of 18 new cars McLaren plans to debut under its Track25 business plan.

Contributing to this incredible top speed will be advanced exterior aerodynamics. Although we have yet to get an eyeful, McLaren is promising a “momentous, flowing, highly streamlined design.”

Inside, the Speedtail will offer a centrally mounted seating position, plus a pair of passenger seats in the flanks, yet another nod to the iconic F1 road car.

Customers will have the option for full customizability through McLaren Special Operations (MSO), with both the exterior and interior set to receive bespoke upgrades per customer tastes.

Look for a full reveal on October 26th on McLaren’s website. Pricing starts at 1.75 million euros, which is 2.02 million at current exchange rates (10/12/2018). Just 106 will be made, matching production numbers of the F1.

If you’re interested in adding the Speedtail to your collection, you’re too late, as every example is already spoken for. Production will kick off by the end of 2019, with deliveries scheduled for a “private event” in London.
